 ber 29.\n\n \n\nBIO\n\n \n\nSarah Jones (b 1990) is a self-taught artist\,
with a studio practice in Virginia. In her youth\, she recognized a sense o
f familiarity with the arts and constantly found ways to cultivate that cre
ative desire. Jerome Jones\, her father and a talented painter\, was her mo
del of perfection on the canvas. She started her professional career in the
culinary field as a pastry chef and obtained a degree in business\, all th
e while continuing to translate those experiences into growing her artistic
craft. She uses her knowledge from her culinary training to develop unconv
entional artistic methods and push the limits. She is drawn to the explorat
ion and manipulation of materials. Texture and culture are weaved into her
art through the inspirations of her world travels and the wonders of nature
. Sarah is currently a full-time artist and facilitates instructional sessi
ons on painting and sculpting through various platforms. She is also passio
nate about donating her craft to organizations.\n\n \n\nArtist Statement \n
\n \n\nThe show titled "Solid Rock" will serve as an exploration of self th
rough high bas-relief sculpture. Speaking to the necessity of a strong foun
dation\, this series of sculptures pulls from Sarah's time in South Africa
during the summer of 2024. \n\nSarah participated in a residency program th
rough Jan Ernst Studio\, where her artistic mind was challenged and where s
he gained a plethora of inspiration\, both in the studio and out. This coll
ection of works is the first collection she's created since her return\, hi
ghlighting a shift in her design sense and artistic inclinations. \n\nThe t
itle "Solid Rock" is a play on words that emphasizes the importance of a st
rong foundation in a literal sense\, a figurative sense\, and most importan
tly in a spiritual sense. \n\nSarah's artistic process is full of intricate
stages and would certainly be considered a labor of love. Her infatuation
with manipulating materials brings about constant discovery of self and her
practice. As Sarah's work constantly evolves\, her foundational standards
have not\, and as she sculpts gypsum rock into various forms\, her ultimate
goal is to create pieces that evoke a sense of harmony in its purest form.

craft. She uses her knowledge from her culinary training to develop unconv
